PITTSBURGHUPMC and Achieva are partnering to help qualified candidates with disabilities connect with job postings, navigate interviews and develop long and meaningful careers with UPMC.

“As our country commemorates the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we  are excited about this partnership, which pairs the hiring needs of UPMC with qualified, top talent,” said John Galley, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, UPMC. “We value the significant contributions that workers with disabilities bring to our inclusive environment at UPMC and we are eager to welcome many qualified individuals into our family.”

An Achieva inclusion liaison, who is embedded into UPMC’s departments of talent acquisition and employee relations, helps people with disabilities apply for positions and provides services necessary for candidates to sustain their employment with UPMC. This partnership is supported by the UPMC Center for Engagement and Inclusion, the UPMC Disabilities Resource Center as well as the UPMC Center for Social Impact as part of its Pathways to Work portfolio, which aims to expand job training, education and opportunities to underserved individuals and communities.

The liaison also brings expertise in disability services to uncover opportunities for improving the accessibility of hiring processes such as recruitment; consulting on resume, applications and interviews; developing training and education materials; coordinating with relevant departments on assistive technology and accommodations; and other relevant workforce services to prospective UPMC employees.

“The ADA has removed barriers and opened doors for individuals with disabilities, paving the way for our partnership with UPMC,” said Steve Suroviec, president and CEO of Achieva. “By working together, we prioritize the talent needs of UPMC and work with their existing human resources team to identify and onboard qualified talent and serve as a key point of contact for disability-related hiring.”
