PITTSBURGH – Highlighting its commitment to patient safety and quality, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh was named one of The Leapfrog Group’s prestigious Top Children’s Hospitals, which is one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive.
“We are honored to once again receive this national recognition and be named one of Leapfrog’s Top Children’s Hospitals,” said Mark Sevco, president, UPMC Children’s. “This incredible achievement highlights the commitment of our dedicated physicians, nurses and staff who work tirelessly to create the best experience and outcomes for every patient and family who walks through our doors.”
UPMC Children’s was selected as a Top Hospital out of a record 2,200 hospitals participating in the annual survey, which measures performance across many areas of hospital care, including infection rates, practices for safer surgery, maternity care and prevention of medication errors.

The list includes 9 Top Children’s Hospitals, 29 Top General Hospitals, 19 Top Rural Hospitals and 48 Top Teaching Hospitals.
