UPMC physician offices (excluding those in New York) are transitioning away from accepting cash payments by the end of 2026. Learn when your region is transitioning to digital, non-cash payments, and what options are available to you to pay your copayment and associated fees when seeking care from a UPMC physician’s office.
- Central Pa.: Aug. 1, 2026.
- Northwest Pa, North Central Pa., West Central Pa., Maryland and West Virginia: Sept. 1, 2026.
- Southwestern Pa.: Oct. 3, 2026.
*Hospital Based Clinics and other hospital related services, are excluded
How Can I Pay?
The following are all approved ways to pay at a physician office:

In Person:
- Credit or debit card
- Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card
- Digital wallet (Apple Pay or Google Pay)
- Check
Please speak with a member of the office team at your UPMC location to discuss any other payment or billing options. Services will not be denied if you do not have a non-cash method of payment at the time of your visit.
