Introduction to Mindfulness 3-week Class, In-person
Wednesdays, June 3, 10, and 17

In this 3-week course, we will explore ways of paying attention to our minds, bodies, and surroundings with curiosity and care. We will learn to recognize the difference between reacting and responding and begin to relate to stress differently, finding ease both physically and mentally. Each of the sessions will include guided mindfulness exercises as well as group dialogue.
Yoga mats provided; however, you may bring your own.
MBSR Refresh 3-week Class, In-person
Tuesdays, June 2, 9, and 16
10-11:30 a.m.
Cost: $120
Has it been a while since you’ve taken MBSR and you’d like support in rejuvenating your own practice? This 3-week course is designed for people who have completed the 8-week MBSR course and would like to refresh their practice and understanding of MBSR. We will explore non-judgment and compassion, deepening our understanding of how these concepts can support daily practice. Each of the sessions will include guided mindfulness practices and exercises as well as group dialogue.
Yoga mats provided; however, you may bring your own.
Mindfulness and Writing - 1 Session, In-person
Monday, May 18
6-8:30 p.m.
Cost - $55
Explore how meditation can help us settle into writing, whether it is creative writing, formal writing, or journaling. The instructor will guide several meditations, followed by periods of quiet writing. Participants will have the option to share their experiences and their writing.
No previous experience necessary.
Mindfulness and Drawing - 1 Session, In-person
Tuesday, May 19
6-8:30 p.m.
Cost - $55
Explore the principle of non-judgement through meditation, mark-making, and mindful exploration of drawing materials. Noticing is a core practice to both meditation and drawing and can help us connect with our surroundings. Each of the sessions will include guided meditation, mindful drawing, as well as group dialogue.
No previous experience necessary.

Please note: All materials will be included in the price of the class. The class will be contingent upon sufficient enrollment, any funds paid will be reimbursed. Payment is due at time of registration. A full refund will be given up until a week before class. 50% will be given after the first class.
Classes are led by Kate Joranson, MFA, MLIS. Kate is an artist and mindfulness teacher whose work focuses on listening, attention, and creative practices. She fosters curiosity, analyzes power dynamics, and builds genuine connections to challenge the status quo. As a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher, she emphasizes liberatory teaching practices. She holds an MFA in Drawing and Painting from The Ohio State University and an MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. Her experience spans museums, libraries, and classrooms, where she prioritizes questioning and collaborative inquiry. Kate supports justice-oriented organizations with fundraising, data management, creative facilitation, and meditation instruction. She approaches her work with a blend of technical skills and relational care, and always works to foster equitable, effective collaboration that invites others to step outside their comfort zones.
