Beverly's

UPMC and UPMC Health Plan’s longstanding partnership with Beverly’s helps the nonprofit strengthen families through events like community baby showers.

“UPMC has been a really great connector to being able to come in and help celebrate and support their patients and families and are investing in our work,” says Megs Yunn, the executive director of Beverly’s.

Global Links

For more than three decades, UPMC and UPMC Health Plan have partnered with Global Links to redistribute surplus medical supplies to communities domestically and internationally.

“To have a clinic in your community that is furnished and all the medical supplies coming from some of these UPMC hospitals is literally lifesaving,” says Stacy Bodow, outreach and engagement manager, Global Links.

Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh

UPMC and UPMC Health Plan are proud partners of the Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh in its mission to support victims of domestic violence.

Eagle's Nest Leadership Corporation

Since 2016, UPMC Hamot has been a proud partner of Eagle’s Nest Leadership Corporation. Eagle’s Nest provides residents of inner-city Erie with job skills training and entry-level employment.

Freedom House 2.0

Sponsored by UPMC Health Plan, Freedom House 2.0 is a six-week program that introduces participants to careers in health care. In April 2024, the Erie Center for Arts & Technology hosted a graduation ceremony for the region’s inaugural class.

“It's great to have this truly entry-level training so they can just get some basic education and get their foot in the door,” says project manager Trevor Mathey.

Hamot Health Foundation

In his role with Hamot Health Foundation, Drevell serves as a community advocate for the Erie Center for Arts & Technology (ECAT). He goes door-to-door through the east side neighborhoods, meeting residents and helping to connect them to the center's resources.

“With the work I'm doing, it's something that even as a kid I would think, 'Oh, I wish we had this resource, or that resource, or someone filling us in on what's available to make our lives healthier and happier," Drevell says.

Coudersport Youth Baseball-Softball Association

More than 20 coaches, volunteers, and parents took some time away from the field to participate in UPMC’s Minutes Matter training program. The training session was hosted by EMS clinicians from Susquehanna Regional EMS and UPMC.

“You don’t have to be a trained medical professional to make a difference in someone’s life, and learning simple, easy-to-understand emergency skills empowers bystanders to provide critical help during these life-threatening and highly stressful situations,” says Tim Weaver, assistant chief, Susquehanna Regional EMS, and manager, Prehospital Services, UPMC in North Central Pa.

High School Career Expo

UPMC in North Central Pa. hosted its annual High School Career Expo at the Liberty Arena, with more than 200 area high school students attending.

The event helps high school students find a career pathway in the health care industry. Participants gained hands-on experience with medical devices while learning skills like CPR and how to read and EKG.

Mobile Health Center

In December 2024, UPMC unveiled its new Mobile Health Center, a cutting-edge clinic on wheels designed to bring high-quality health care directly to rural communities across northcentral Pennsylvania.

“This is more than a vehicle – it is a lifeline to those who may not have access to preventative screenings, vaccinations, or health education,” says Kari Kurtz, director, Community Outreach, UPMC in North Central Pa.

Mario Lemieux Foundation

UPMC and the Mario Lemieux Foundation opened Austin’s Playroom at UPMC Children’s in Harrisburg, the first in central Pennsylvania. The playroom supports patients and siblings as families focus on health and healing.

“Our goal is to reach as many children and families as possible, and we are excited to bring an Austin’s Playroom to children and families in Harrisburg and Central Pennsylvania,” says Nathalie Lemieux, chair, Austin’s Playrooms, Mario Lemieux Foundation.

Medical Assistant Trainee Program

Students enrolled in the UPMC Medical Assistant paid training program undergo clinical rotations, didactic skills modules, a cost-free MA certification exam, an externship placement at a UPMC in Central Pa. outpatient clinic, and support in applying for and beginning a permanent position.

“This program has allowed me to achieve the goals that I was looking for and spend time with my children, while still providing for them,” says Shanda Neal, MA graduate.

Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania

Veterans residing at Veterans Grove, a tiny home village operated by Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania (VOPA), can see health care providers without the need to travel through the donation of telemedicine equipment from UPMC.

“We are truly grateful to UPMC for adding to their already generous contributions to Veterans Grove through the gift of this high-tech equipment,” says Tom Zimmerman, co-founder and chairman, Board of Directors, Veterans Outreach of PA.

Area Agency on Aging Somerset County

The vision of the Area Agency on Aging of Somerset County is for all older adults to age and live well with opportunities for health, happiness, well-being, and economic self-sufficiency. To achieve that mission, the Area Agency on Aging provides support, services, and advocacy for older adults in our communities.

Altoona Community Theater

The Altoona Community Theatre (ACT) strives to create live entertainment that’s intellectually stimulating while providing residents the opportunity to express themselves creatively. ACT also hopes to foster an appreciation for the arts and stimulate growth through educational programming.

Children's Aid Society Foundation

The mission of the Children’s Aid Society Foundation is to develop, grow, and distribute resources to support the lives of children and families. The foundation’s programs include summer camps, special therapeutic services, reading programs, and more.

Region: Maryland & West Virginia

Salvation Army Cumberland Corps

The Salvation Army of Cumberland serves Allegany, Garrett, Grant, Hampshire, Mineral, Pendleton, and Tucker counties. They encourage new energy and revitalization in our communities through three main priorities to love, serve, and disciple.

Union Rescue Mission of Western Maryland

The purpose of the Union Rescue Mission of Western Maryland is to decrease homelessness by offering hope, healing, and rehabilitative care. The Union Rescue Mission provides shelter, food, and necessities to those in need.

Western Maryland Food Bank

The Western Maryland Food Bank supports more than 100 organizations, including church pantries, day care centers, emergency assistance, and more. The WMFB serves an estimated 10,000 to 13,000 individuals per month.
