The Emergency Department at UPMC Bedford provides complete emergency care to people from throughout Bedford County. At UPMC Bedford, our doctors consistently provide patients with the best possible emergency care – no matter the time of day, or the complexity of illness or injury.
Offering big-city care in a small town atmosphere, our Emergency Department is able to provide care for an array of medical conditions. If a situation arises where a patient must be flown to another hospital within the UPMC network, UPMC Bedford is equipped with a heliport on the premises for air evacuation, and a fully equipped Emergency Command Center.
Specialists in obstetrics, urology, ear nose and throat, orthopeadics, and general surgery are on call and available to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Also, the average wait time from arriving at the hospital to being seen by a physician is usually under 15 minutes.
When necessary, patient care continues with our Hospitalists — board-certified or board eligible physicians who care for patients during their inpatient stay. Our hospitalists' are able to track test results and promptly order follow up tests and medications for patients.
This location is classified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC), designated for hospitals that offer endovascular procedures and post-procedural care.
