Short Procedure Admissions (SPA) is located within the Same Day Surgery Department and provides a variety of services to meet your outpatient needs. We work directly with departments such as Radiology and Cardiopulmonary in a coordination of care effort for a number of procedures.
Your physician’s office will contact the Central Scheduling Department at UPMC Somerset to schedule you for your Short Procedure Admission and give you a date and time for arrival for your procedure. If you need to change the date or time of your procedure, you may contact Central Scheduling at 814-443-5096.
Some Short Procedure Admissions require that laboratory or radiological testing be performed prior to the day of the procedure. Your physician will instruct you on whether or not you will require any tests prior to the day of arrival for your procedure. If you are having your procedure performed by the Radiology Department, they will contact you with specific instructions to follow the day before your scheduled procedure.
Upon arrival to the hospital for your Short Procedure Admission, we ask that all patients enter the main entrance of the hospital off of Church Street. Valet parking is available at the main entrance. Wheelchairs are also available at the main entrance.
Upon entering the hospital, go straight down the hall; take the silver elevators on the right to the second floor. Go to the Same Day Surgery waiting area which is to the left of the Radiology Waiting area. Check in with the person sitting at the desk, and then one of our patient care technicians will come out to greet you and take you back to your room.
