How Does Telehealth Work?
Your telehealth appointment will start like an in-person doctor's office visit.
When you arrive, you'll check in and then your nurse will:
- Take you to the exam room.
- Check your blood pressure and weight.
- Ask questions about your health, any concerns, and what medications you're taking.
Here's where the telehealth visit will differ.
Rather than coming into the room to see you, the doctor will appear on a large screen via a secure video call. The nurse will set this up, so you don't have to worry about any connection issues.
You and your doctor can see and hear each other, just as you would if they were in the room. Your doctor may ask the nurse to use tools that send real-time info, such as a Bluetooth stethoscope.
When the visit is over, you'll receive a printout of your doctor's instructions and next steps. For instance, it could have info about a change in your prescriptions or where to go for testing.
You may still need to travel for some of your care. But you'll be glad to know that many of your specialist visits can happen right here in Coudersport.
