Many eating disorders do not meet the criteria for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or binge eating disorder.

Signs and Symptoms of Other Eating Disorders

Individuals with other eating disorders may:

  • Have all symptoms of anorexia nervosa except skipped menstrual periods (amenorrhea)
  • Symptoms of anorexia nervosa and significant weight loss, but current weight is normal
  • Engage in binge eating and unhealthy behaviors- such as self-induced vomiting or misuse of laxatives, diet pills, or diuretics (water pills), less often than twice per week for at least three months
  • Engage in unhealthy behaviors- such as self-induced vomiting or misuse of laxatives, diet pills, or diuretics (water pills)- without binge eating or when eating only small amounts of food
