All UPMC Schools of Nursing have national accreditation by the ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing).
We recognize that students have received credit from other colleges/universities.
We will accept six courses with the equivalent content, and the same number of credits, where the student has earned a grade "C" or better.

Upon graduation from UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing at UPMC Harrisburg, you will have completed 69 credits and will earn a diploma in nursing. This means you can take the national licensure exam, the NCLEX-RN, and begin working as an RN. We have also partnered with Harrisburg University to make it simple for you to earn your BSN after you graduate.

We have an NCLEX review course built into our nursing program — N 360.
We offer this review course the last semester of the program, just before students take the exam.
We have incorporated NCLEX style questions throughout the didactic and clinical learning environments.
Most clinicals are scheduled at UPMC Harrisburg or surrounding UPMC facilities.
You will graduate with over 900 clinical hours.
Our program is a combination of classroom instruction and clinical experiences.
The schedule is up to 5 days per week with 6 to 8 hours of class or clinical training per day.
