Since the 1960s, the Matilda H. Theiss Health Center has provided primary health care for people of all ages, including uninsured patients.

The Theiss Center is the only federally qualified health center within UPMC, and care is provided by the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Family Medicine.

Services include:

  • Child and adult physical exams
  • Chronic disease screening and management
  • Immunizations
  • Health education
  • Minor surgery
  • Obstetrical and gynecological care
  • Medication dispensing service

In addition, a licensed social worker Theiss Center provides a variety of social, counseling, and health promotion services, including a seniors’ health group.

The clinic is also a teaching site for first- and third-year medical students of the University of Pittsburgh, as well as UPMC St. Margaret family medicine residents fulfilling their community health rotations.
