Geriatric Medicine at UPMC

ATTENTION: Geriatricians are ready to assist you either through video visits or in person — all in line with guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, including screening staff and patients for symptoms, limiting visitors, requiring mask use, and cleaning and sanitizing our locations regularly.

Please call the Benedum Geriatric Center at 412-692-4200 or the Senior Care Institute at 412-623-2700 to be connected to a geriatrician who can provide assistance with your health care needs.

Our mission is to enhance the health of older adults by providing superb clinical care, by training others to do the same, and by conducting research to ensure that tomorrow’s care will be better than today’s.

The Division has received national recognition for its efforts in each of these areas. It has been designated a “National Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine” by the John A. Hartford Foundation. UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside also has been repeatedly ranked among the top hospitals for geriatric medicine by U.S. News & World Report.

Nearly a dozen of its physicians are included in The Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Doctors. Its research efforts in aging are among the most extensive in America, and its educational programs in aging have won local and national awards for both quality and innovation.
