What Body Plastic Surgery Procedures are Offered at UPMC in Central Pa.?

The experienced, highly trained plastic surgery providers at UPMC in Central Pa. offer a full range of personalized procedures to help tone and tighten problem areas and showcase your natural body structure. Your surgeon will evaluate your needs and goals before developing a customized surgical plan for you.

Our body procedures include:

  • Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). A tummy tuck is a type of cosmetic surgery performed to flatten the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat, while also tightening the abdominal muscles. Tummy tucks can be combined with liposuction or be part of a complete body lift.
  • Liposuction. Our surgeons are experts in liposuction, a type of cosmetic procedure that sculpts the body and highlights your natural shape by removing excess fat from the abdomen, buttocks, cheeks, chin, hips, knees, neck, thighs, upper arms, or waist. Liposuction may be combined with a tummy tuck or an upper arm reduction, or it can be part of a body lift.
  • Body lift. A body lift is an intensive cosmetic surgery that combines aspects of the tummy tuck, thigh lift, arm lift, breast lift, and face lift procedures to give you a fully rejuvenated appearance. During a body lift, our expert cosmetic surgeons will remove excess fat, smooth or remove loose skin, and tone connective tissue.
  • Upper arm reduction (brachioplasty). A brachioplasty removes excess skin and fat from your upper arms, helping to achieve a toned appearance. If appropriate, a brachioplasty may also be combined with liposuction.
  • CoolSculpting (cryolipolysis). Cryolipolysis is a nonsurgical fat-reduction treatment that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for people who have a localized area of fat they would like to remove. CoolSculpting is an hour-long procedure that uses a specialized medical device to apply controlled cooling that kills fat cells in a problem area with little to no discomfort and no downtime. We are proud to offer CoolSculpting at our Lititz, Pa., facility.
  • Female-to-male chest masculinization. Also known as transmasculine top surgery, or “top surgery,” female-to-male chest masculinization is a common surgical procedure for a person who is transitioning from female to male. Top surgery involves the removal of excess skin and breast tissue, as well as the reconstruction of the chest and nipple areolar complex to provide a more masculine appearance. The decision to undergo top surgery is very personal and requires the input of a multidisciplinary team of health care providers, including mental health professionals, primary care physicians, endocrinologists, and plastic surgeons.

Is Body Plastic Surgery Right for Me?

Before any plastic surgery procedure, your surgeon will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your specific situation to determine whether plastic surgery can help you achieve your personal appearance goals.

Your surgeon will ask you about your health history, your activities, and your desired results. Keep in mind that not everyone is a candidate for all body plastic surgery procedures. If you are a candidate for plastic surgery, your surgeon will create a personalized treatment plan for you.

Your surgeon will also discuss the risks and benefits of your procedure and will let you know what you can expect before, during, and after surgery. If you have questions, your surgeon will take the time to provide you with the education, information, and reassurance you need.

If you decide to proceed, you will meet with a member of our team who will provide pre-surgery instructions and information and will assist you with scheduling, payment arrangements, insurance approvals (if applicable), and coordinating your follow-up care.

For additional information on what to expect, please see our Plastic Surgery FAQ.

Please note: we cannot provide cost estimates for surgical procedures prior to the initial consultation appointment.
