Our physical therapists, provided by UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, specialize in evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic and sports-related injuries. The combination of our state-of-the-art facility and the most recent sports medicine research help us develop productive treatment plans.

The physical therapy team uses a patient-centered, hands-on approach to deliver care for injuries ranging from strains and sprains to complex athletic and postoperative diagnoses. By using customized treatment and injury prevention programs, the team can address the needs of each individual patient.

Erie Facility

UPMC Sports Medicine is located at Bayview Centre at 100 Peach Street, overlooking the scenic Lake Erie bayfront and Presque Isle. Our facility includes private treatment rooms and a gym equipped with:

  • Cybex® line strength and conditioning equipment
  • Biodex® dynamometer
  • Biodex Balance Platform System®

Together, these tools provide valuable information and help us decide when an athlete is ready to return to normal activities.

Our facility also includes an onsite x-ray machine, which is used in sports medicine clinics to diagnose both minor and serious conditions.

Athletic Training Program

Our certified athletic trainers (ATs) and orthopaedic surgeons provide sports medicine services to many local high school, club, and collegiate teams. Athletic trainers also aid in our physical therapy and sports medicine clinics.
