Pain is personal. UPMC Pain Medicine recognizes that everyone experiences pain in very different ways — from how much it hurts to how long it lasts. At UPMC, we are at the forefront of innovation in pain management research, education, and patient care. Our expert team brings together specialists in many areas to create highly personalized treatment plans for patients of all ages.
UPMC Pain Medicine evaluates and treats every type of pain disorder. Our multidisciplinary team approach to pain care brings together dedicated professionals from various specialties including anesthesiology, neurology, psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and psychology. We provide pain treatment that recognizes the biological, psychological, and social factors that shape how every person experiences and manages their pain.
At UPMC Pain Medicine, we develop a personalized pain treatment plan for each patient. Our experts will work with you and your doctor or specialist to establish your goals and make decisions about your pain management care. As a new patient in our office, your initial evaluation will allow your physician to make a diagnosis and put together a personalized pain treatment plan.
While everyone experiences pain, there is still a great deal that medicine doesn’t know about it. UPMC Pain Medicine is committed to advancing medicine’s understanding of pain through research, patient care, and education.
