Employee Resource Groups

The voice of our employee base is critical to UPMC’s overall mission. For that reason, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) focus on contributing to the business strategies and objectives that help drive inclusion for the diverse employees, health plan members, patients and families we serve. ERGs support the employee experience by offering networking and development opportunities, supporting the recruitment of diverse talent, and promoting employee volunteerism in diverse communities. Our relationship with Vibrant Pittsburgh has proven to be a great connection for employees new to our region, and offers resources for community engagement opportunities for our resource groups.

Diversity Leadership Network is committed to diversity and inclusion and places a high value in advancement of under-represented people of color, and their proportionate representation at all levels of the organization. The mission of the DLN is to serve as a resource to the organization to positively influence the environment, to ensure professional development of all under-represented people of color and to assist the organization in achieving its diversity and inclusion plan.

The Minority Residents and Fellows Resource Group works to serve residents and fellows at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine, who identify as people of color. The council exists to serve and support our residents and fellows by fostering connections with others in the region.

The Nursing Inclusion Council is made up of nurses from various business units that actively participate in identifying issues, discussing recommendations and implementing solutions to foster an inclusive and diverse workforce within UPMC Nursing that is reflective of the patients we serve. In addition, the council serves as the governing body of the UPMC Nurse and Student Nurse Mentorship Programs.

The Physician Inclusion Council at UPMC and Pitt serves as a core component of our physician diversity infrastructure charged with developing strategies to recruit, retain and promote the professional success and advancement of diverse physicians, especially those who are under-represented minorities within the UPMC/University of Pittsburgh (PITT) academic medical center.

PRIDE Health, is the LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Allies) employee resource group for UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences (Medicine, Dental Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health and Rehabilitation Science and Public Health). PRIDE Health exists to serve and support our faculty, staff, students, residents, fellows, and providers, fostering an inclusive, open and affirming environment within which to practice, work and learn.
