COVID-19 Vaccination for the 2025-2026 Season
Vaccine and respiratory infection experts at UPMC recommend that everyone eligible for the vaccine – people 6 months of age and older without a contraindication – should consider getting the vaccine. The people who will benefit the most are those at risk of complications of COVID-19.

Should I get the vaccine?
COVID-19 vaccination remains an important way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and the community against currently circulating variants. COVID-19 vaccines help lower the risk of serious complications, including hospitalization and death.
If you are not sure whether to get the vaccine, talk with your doctor about the guidance from the federal government, state agencies, and the medical community. Consider your health, and the health of those around you.
Can I get the vaccine?
If you choose to get a COVID-19 vaccine, there is no concern for adequate supply this season.
COVID-19 vaccines are available at UPMC Retail Pharmacy locations. You may find that vaccines are available at primary care offices and some UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care locations, and retail pharmacies. Before scheduling an appointment, ask the office if the seasonal COVID-19 vaccine is available.
For children, parents or guardians should speak with their pediatrician or a UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics office for options on scheduling. Children under 5 years old should receive all their doses from the same vaccine manufacturer, if feasible.
UPMC offers the Moderna 2025-26 seasonal COVID-19 vaccine. If you have questions about the Pfizer, vaccine talk with your provider.
Will the vaccine be covered by my insurance?
Most vaccine providers will not require a prescription or proof of qualifying condition.
Many insurance providers have committed to continuing coverage for the cost of the vaccine for all individuals aged 6 months and older. For insurance coverage questions, contact your insurer.
