A Word From Our Family Medicine Residency Program Director at UPMC Williamsport

For over 50 years, our residency program has been a beacon of growth and opportunity, offering a supportive learning environment that fuels personal and professional development. Our vision is to train full spectrum family doctors with the broadest range of skills, enabling them to pursue their dreams, become community leaders, and bring innovation to the forefront of medicine.

Williamsport is home to Little League International and the Little League Baseball® World Series.  Our “big league program in a little league town” consists of bright residents, dedicated faculty, and supportive administrative staff, all working together for our top priorities – patient care and resident education. And we’re lucky to do all of this in a city brimming with opportunities, both within its vibrant urban center and in the surrounding rural areas.

The size of our program allows us to tailor your education to meet your individual goals. We offer optional areas of concentration (AOC) including obstetrics, sports medicine, geriatrics, hospitalist medicine, palliative medicine, addiction medicine, point of care ultrasound, lifestyle medicine, and others. We have unique outreach opportunities in underserved populations such as our faculty-run Plain Health (Amish) Program and Prenatal Center. Additionally, we continue our dedication to osteopathic manipulative medicine with Osteopathic Recognition through the ACGME. This designation allows us the ability to offer training to both osteopathic and allopathic residents in manipulative therapy throughout all clinical settings.

If you are looking for the opportunity to train in a family medicine residency program that provides a well-rounded, nurturing, educational experience in a state-of-the-art facility, we invite you to explore what Williamsport has to offer.
