Each year, UPMC in central Pa. offers a range of continuing education classes for employees and the general public. From cardiovascular to diabetes issues, these conferences provide updates on the latest research and information on specific health care topics.
Each year, Breastfeeding Education Day is held during World Breastfeeding Week in August. This four-hour seminar is sponsored by the Learning Institute and planned by the Breastfeeding Committee. Presentations take place in the morning and are repeated in the afternoon, allowing nurses who are working to attend.
Nationally known speakers present on topics of interest to hospital staff, nurses, other health care providers and volunteers who assist new mothers with breastfeeding. Nursing contact hours are available.

School Nurse Update is an annual conference for school nurses in Central Pennsylvania organized by the Learning Institute. The conference is held each year on Columbus Day in the Brady Building at UPMC Harrisburg Campus.
The conference provides opportunities for continuing education for school nurses through selected topics appropriate to school nursing.
The workshop sessions are designed to allow each participant to choose a course of study to meet his or her individual needs. Contact hours are provided.

UPMC in central Pa. partners with the American Stroke Association and other regional health care organizations to present Strike Back at Stroke, an annual educational event for the entire community about stroke prevention, treatment and recovery.
