The Resident and Fellow Association Committee (RFAC) is a sub-committee of the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) composed of residents and fellows.
The RFAC connects UPMC Residents and Fellows to collaborate in the service of high-quality patient care and education across disciplines, to enhance knowledge transfer between programs at a trainee level, develop collaborative trainee-led projects, and offer new leadership opportunities. Additionally, we seek to create a cross-disciplinary advisory group to collaborate and support GMEC’s commitment to recruit, train and retain the best workforce.

Dr. Sydney Diulus is a resident in the UPMC Harrisburg obstetrics and gynecology program.
Dr. George Raum is a resident in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital physical medicine and rehabilitation program.
The RFAC incorporates two co-chairs to engage trainees from multiple programs yielding the development and maintenance of cross-disciplinary initiatives, while providing a direct trainee voice in several other and longstanding GME subcommittees.
The RFAC is excited to support several on-going initiatives.
The UPMC Community Guide is a centralized sources for trainees to see the various training programs from the perspective of current trainees and a living resource for future generations of UPMC residents and fellows. It features neighborhoods around the various training sites and offers insight into the culture of Western and Central Pennsylvania, featuring the thriving food and drink scene, museums, cultural attractions, and performance venues to visit. The community guide also included a “HousingDoc” that provided an opportunity for incoming trainees to look for housing advertised by current trainees, as well as roommates.
