Who Can Apply to Nursing School at UPMC Mercy?

To apply to our nursing program, you need only a high school diploma or GED.

Students should also be aware that certain felony convictions will make them ineligible for licensure and therefore they will be unable to work as a nurse. Please direct any concerns to the PA State Board of Nursing (717-783-7142 or www.dos.state.pa.us), before continuing the application process.

Admissions Checklist: Steps for Applying 

Step 1. Take TEAS test

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), is the only admissions test score accepted by the UPMC Schools of Nursing. In order to be considered for admission, you must score proficient, advanced, or exemplary on the TEAS test.

Upon meeting the TEAS qualifications, applicant must submit scores to the Pre-admissions Coordinator.

Step 2: Complete your UPMC School of Nursing application

Step 3: Request your Transcripts

We’ll require all applying applicants to submit the following transcripts:

  • Official High School Transcript (including month, day, and year of graduation)
  • GED (General Education Development or General Education Diploma); scores must be included with the GED
  • All post-secondary transcripts including college, nursing, vocational, or other schools.

Applicants can submit official electronic transcripts through parchment.com or request transcript to be mailed.

Step 4: Submit your nursing school application and materials to UPMC

Complete and gather all the required admission documents and send to UPMC Mercy Hospital School of Nursing

Step 5: When Should I Apply to UPMC Mercy Hospital School of Nursing?

Our schools have a rolling admission policy. This means you can submit your application for in advance of the deadline for admission consideration.

We are currently accepting application for full time Fall 2020. Applications will be accepted up to the deadline of July 1, 2020.

Classes will begin on August 31, 2020.
