Our nursing students are a diverse group of people, united by their passion for patient care.
Here at Shadyside School of Nursing, we take a small group of dedicated individuals each year and give them the personalized attention they need to excel.
To apply to our nursing program, you need only a high school diploma or GED.
Students should also be aware that certain felony convictions will make them ineligible for licensure and therefore they will be unable to work as a nurse. Please direct any concerns to the PA State Board of Nursing (717-783-7142 or www.dos.state.pa.us), before continuing the application process.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), is the only admissions test score accepted by the UPMC Schools of Nursing. In order to be considered for admission, you must score proficient, advanced, or exemplary on the TEAS test.

Shadyside School of Nursing may award credit for certain coursework you've already completed. See our transfer credit policy (PDF).
The school has a rolling admissions policy. This means you may submit an application anytime throughout the year.
We are currently accepting full time applications for Fall 2020. Applications will be accepted up to the deadline date of June 1, 2020.
Classes will begin on August 31, 2020
