The purpose of the UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley Auxiliary is to advance the welfare of and to render service to UPMC Horizon, and to assist UPMC Horizon in promoting the health and welfare of the community.
The auxiliary was founded on May 15, 1957, as the Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital Guild, three years before the official opening of what is now UPMC Horizon's Shenango Valley campus.
Its contributions to the hospital throughout its existence include parking lot lights, wheelchairs, beds, and equipment for several departments, including x-ray, nuclear medicine, obstetrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and the critical care unit.
The UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley Auxiliary operates the Hospitality Shop at the Shenango Valley campus.
Located just inside the hospital's main entrance, the shop features a lunch counter as well as a selection of gifts, flowers, balloons, snacks, purses, and UPMC Horizon clothing items.
The shop is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on weekends. For more information about the Hospitality Shop, call
724-981-3500 ext. 7211.
Since 1990, the UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley Auxiliary has hosted the Remembrance Tree tree lighting ceremony and luncheon at the Shenango Valley campus during the holiday season. Ornaments may be purchased for a small donation in memory or in honor of a loved one.
