This direct access to an MFM specialist can be particularly valuable when a decision is needed regarding local treatment versus transfer.
To ensure close communication, Magee’s MFM specialists contact the referring physician within 24 hours of delivery.
Subsequently, a clinical nurse specialist responsible for outreach coordination will provide written updates to keep referring physicians informed of the patient’s progress while in the hospital.
Any infant born at Magee whose primary care physician wishes to refer to the Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic for apnea or developmental concerns may call 412-641-4178.
