The UPMC Vision Institute is seeking candidates for a LASIK research study at our flagship location at UPMC Mercy Pavilion, 1622 Locust Street, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15219.
About the Study
Multicenter clinical study with a 12-month follow-up period, evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the investigational Technolas TENEOTM 317 model 2 excimer laser. This study applies to patients who are interested in LASIK surgery to correct hyperopia with or without astigmatism in both eyes.
The TENEO laser has an established safety profile. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved it in the United States for LASIK-myopia with or without astigmatism. It is also in wide use outside the United States for multiple indications.
Study Criteria: Who Is a Candidate?

At least 22 years of age or older.

Has hyperopia (farsightedness) with or without astigmatism.

Hyperopia measures from +1.0 to +4.00 with or without astigmatism up to +2.00 cylinder.

Healthy eyes with no major illness.
Study Commitment

Seven follow-up visits over the course of one year following surgery.

Ocular assessments performed at every study visit.
