The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Neurology Residency Program continues to attract outstanding physicians from the United States and around the world for state-of-the-art training in diagnosing and treating diseases of the nervous system.
The four-year program trains 36 adult neurology residents, beginning with one year of internal medicine residency and then proceeding to three years of full-time neurology training. Resident trainees receive detailed instruction and practical daily experience in the technique of the neurological examination, localization of abnormalities in the nervous system, differential diagnosis, and neurological investigation and therapeutics.

The ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency Program at UMPC Hamot offers a well-rounded neurological education with experience in a variety of subspecialties. Residents who choose UPMC Hamot for their neurology residency are exposed to a wide variety of pathologies and patients.
Our residents are prepared to enter either general neurological practice or fellowship training upon completion of their residency.
