Eva had suffered from headaches her whole life. Starting in 9th grade she had daily headaches, and in 2020 she was diagnosed with Chiari malformation, a malformation of the back part of the skull.
"Chiari affects the person that you are," says Dr. Robert Friedlander, Eva's neurosurgeon and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at UPMC in Pittsburgh. He has operated on hundreds of patients with Chiari malformation, and he repaired her malformation.
"The vast majority of our patients go home the next day," he says, and Eva did too.
"Everything has changed for me because of my surgery," says Eva.
