The cardiothoracic transplant fellows participate in and support UPMC's transplant and ventricular assist-device programs.
Successful candidates will have satisfactorily completed cardiothoracic training, or — at the least — completed an accredited general surgery training program. However, we occasionally make exceptions for the right candidate.
The fellowship typically lasts one year (July through June), but the stated one-year duration is flexible. Instructors may adjust the timing and scope as necessary to provide trainees with the best and most thorough training possible.
