The six-year CT residency program includes:
- Two years of prerequisite cardiothoracic surgery clinical training
- Four years requisite cardiothoracic surgery clinical training
- Optional two years academic enrichment through laboratory or clinical research opportunities (great for those wishing to pursue a graduate degree in a related or ancillary field)
This curriculum provides residents with a focused background and hands-on experience in cardiothoracic surgery, including:
- 26 months core surgical education for cardiac track
- 25 months core surgical education in thoracic track
It allows for one resident per post-graduate year in each of the cardiac and thoracic tracks for a total complement of 12 residents.
