Critical Care Intensivist

UPMC Hamot, located in Erie Pennsylvania, is seeking a full-time Intensivist hospital-based adult critical care practice in Erie, PA. It is recognized leaders in the provision of critical care services for this tri-state region (Northwestern Pennsylvania, Western New York, and Northeastern Ohio). Physicians lead a multidisciplinary team that provides integral and collaborative care of medical and surgical patients. This is an outstanding opportunity to have the best of all worlds at a top academic medical center with plenty of opportunities to collaborate, perform research, and teach.

As UPMC Hamot's regional presence as a tertiary hub has expanded in recent years, it means more acutely ill patients are in need of a higher quality of care. Project 20/20, a seven-story patient tower scheduled to be completed in 2020, will house 64 intensive care beds. In addition, the new patient tower will expand critical care services to include medical, surgical, cardiovascular, neuro and trauma critical care. At $111 million, it will be the biggest capital project in UPMC Hamot's history.

  • Join a multidisciplinary team including highly trained Advanced Practice Providers to support the service line.
  • Intensivists are expected to coordinate care with sub-specialists and provide supervision for a full staff of highly trained group of critical care Physician Assistants.
  • Full time position with flexible 15 shifts per month (mixed days and nights).
  • Coverage to 32 intensive care beds including Trauma, Surgical, Kidney Transplant, Medical, Neuro and Cardiovascular ICU beds, to expand to 64 beds with Project 20/20.
  • Candidate should have completed fellowship training and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine.
  • A desire to teach medical students, residents and staff.
