Joint replacement patients at UPMC Mercy are admitted to a specialized unit where the staff is experienced in providing care to orthopaedic patients, and has training in UPMC Mercy’s protocols for joint replacement patients. This approach allows coordination among the surgeons, surgical teams, and nursing staff, with an emphasis on patient outcomes, recovery, and function.
