Neurology at UPMC Neurological Institute leads the Annville area in specialized neurological and sleep medicine services. The experienced team provides additional comprehensive care for physical, behavioral, and cognitive issues associated with neurological conditions. Our movement disorder neurologist specializes in tremors, Parkinson’s Disease and other voluntary/involuntary movements. Our sleep specialists focus on identifying sleep disorders through diagnostic testing, recommending treatment options and restoring quality rest.

• Diagnostics (EMG, nerve conduction studies, home sleep studies).

• Botox therapy for migraines.
• Greater Occipital Nerve (GON) blocks.
• The electromyogram (EMG) evaluates the electrical properties of the muscles, which are controlled by your nerves. This involves placing a small, thin wire into selected muscles. This may involve a small amount of pain, but it is safe, and tolerated by most patients.
• Nerve conduction studies (NCS) show how well the body’s electrical signals are traveling along a nerve. This is accomplished by applying small electrical shocks to the skin over the nerve, and recording the nerve and/or muscle response. The electrical stimulation may feel strange, but it is very safe and generally well-tolerated.

• Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
• Brachial Plexopathy.
• Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
• Cervical Radiculopathy (“pinched nerve in the neck”).
• Charcot-Marie-Tooth Syndrome.
• Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy.
• Lumbosacral Radiculopathy (“pinched nerve in the lower back”).
• Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
• Other Generalized or Multi-focal Peripheral Neuropathy.
• Peroneal (Fibular) Neuropathy at the Knee.
• Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome.
• Ulnar Neuropathy at the Elbow (Cubital Tunnel Syndrome).

Neuromuscular Junction Disorders

• Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome.
• Myasthenia Gravis.

Muscle Disorders

• Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.
• Inflammatory Myopathy (i.e. polymyositis).
