About the UPMC Voice Center

Dedicated to the evaluation and care of voice disorders, the UPMC Voice Center is a unique resource for both the general public and those who use their voices professionally.

Our mission is to:

  • Prevent injuries to the voice, vocal cords, and larynx.
  • Rehabilitate people with all types of voice problems, from hoarseness to vocal cord growths.
  • Provide cutting-edge research to remain the leaders in our field.

A Team Approach to Voice Disorders

In order to offer a truly comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of even the most complex voice disorders, the Voice Center staff consults with UPMC specialists in many medical fields including:

  • Gastroenterology
  • Internal medicine
  • Neurology
  • Psychiatry and psychology
  • Physical therapy

Voice Center experts also provide voice health care services for professional and amateur vocal performance groups, such as the Pittsburgh Opera and performing arts centers at regional high schools and universities.
