Student Aide Workshop

UPMC Sports Medicine is proud to offer an annual workshop for high school students who are interested in careers in athletic training or want to enhance the skills they use daily in their high school athletic training room.

Students will be exposed to elements of our key topics through lectures, demonstrations, and presentations. Key topics include anatomy, concussion, and conditioning and rehabilitation, as well as the role of an athletic trainer in multiple settings and career opportunities.

Tentative topics/sessions include:

  • High School Aide Roles and Responsibilities.
  • Career Exploration.
  • Therapeutic Exercise.
  • First Aid and Wound Care Taping and Bracing.
  • Spine Boarding/Equipment Removal.
  • Common Injuries and Evaluation.
  • And More!

There is a 40-student maximum for this event, and the workshop fee is $40 per student. The fee will cover educational materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and beverages for the day of the event.
