Thank you for visiting UPMC in central Pa.'s Family Medicine Residency program! Our program is an accredited ACGME program with Osteopathic Recognition. We pride ourselves on training highly skilled and compassionate physicians. Our residents are trained in evidence-based medicine through a variety of clinical environments, including outpatient training in both urban and rural clinic settings, as well as a strong inpatient experience. We allow many electives during your training to gain added clinical knowledge and skills. Given our osteopathic roots, our physicians are able to fine tune their osteopathic manipulation skills, but we also provide teaching and education to be competent in a variety of other procedural skills such as colonoscopies, joint injections, and minor skin procedures. Our unique blend of clinical education and didactic education are the cornerstone of the program. We are proud of our graduates, and pleased to report a continued track record of 100 percent board pass rate for over a decade. The UPMC in central Pa. system is committed to training the future of medicine by having its attending physicians work one-on-one with residents in the clinical setting as well as participating in didactic education.
It is our belief that the supportive environment in which our residents learn is a unique asset to the program and continues beyond graduation. Being apart of the UPMC system, helps to open opportunities to variety of fellowships- sports medicine, addiction medicine, geriatrics etc. Our graduates have excelled in all aspects after graduation- outpatient, inpatient, as well as administrative type roles.
Many of our UPMC in central Pa. graduates continue to practice medicine in the greater Harrisburg area and are committed to building strong communities. At UPMC in central Pa. We take pride in training the next generation of family practitioners that can provide great patient care in our region and beyond.
