AuD Externships at UPMC

The UPMC Department of Audiology offers four AuD externship positions each year. AuD externs have many responsibilities and opportunities in the clinic and will be exposed to a variety of clinic settings and activities across the scope of adult audiology practice. Externs are expected to participate in a variety of learning activities and grow in clinical independence throughout the year.

The following timeline was developed by the Audiology Clinical Education Network and will be utilized by UPMC Department of Audiology:

  • Application deadline: Wednesday, September 18, 2024
  • Interviews begin/initial offers can be extended: Monday, September 23, 2024
  • Interviews complete: Friday, October 25, 2024
  • Student response deadline for first round offerings: Tuesday, October 29, 2024 (7 pm Eastern; 4 pm Pacific)
  • Reposting unfilled positions on website begins: Tuesday, October 29, 2024 (7 pm Eastern; 4 pm Pacific)

All application information must be submitted to the Qualtrics site by 5pm (Eastern) on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

Application materials will be reviewed and invitations for the interviews will be extended to a subset of the applicants via email by no later than 5pm (Eastern) on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

The interviews will take place on Monday, September 23 or Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Applicants can select to come in person or interview virtually.

Please note that all the following required items must be uploaded by the deadline specified above for an application to be considered complete:

  • 1 letter of introduction/recommendation from the university faculty externship coordinator
  • 2 additional letters of recommendation from academic or clinical instructors
  • 1 letter of Interest from the applicant
  • 1 vita from the applicant

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Student applicants submitting letters of interest and vitas, clinical instructors or academic instructors submitting letters of recommendation, and externship coordinators submitting letters of introduction/recommendation should upload all application materials to this Qualtrics site. While completing this survey, applicants should indicate whether they plan to interview in person (in Pittsburgh, PA) or virtually (using the Zoom platform).
