Blood Glucose Testing at the Department of Family Medicine

UPMC Content 3

Blood glucose testing is part of routine health screenings for all adults at risk for diabetes. For people who have diabetes, tests of the blood for glucose levels are routinely performed as well.

This simple test is typically performed with a finger prick, but sometimes requires drawing blood from a vein in your arm.

We can perform this test at our family medicine health clinics.

Some blood glucose tests require you to drink a sugary drink and sit while blood glucose measurements are taken over an hour or two.

If you have diabetes or are concerned that you might be at risk for diabetes, call one of our locations to set an appointment with a member of our care team.

Our family medicine doctors help people who have, or are at risk for, diabetes every day.
