UPMC Pinnacle's Internal Medicine Residency Program is designed to give you the most comprehensive internal medicine training.

The following list details the clinical rotation during your residency:

PGY-1

  • 3-4 months Teaching Service/General Medicine Inpatient
  • 1-2 months Inpatient Cardiology
  • 2 months Critical Care
  • 2-2 months Night Float*
  • 1.75-2.75 months Ambulatory Care
  • 1 month vacation

PGY-2

  • 2-3 months Teaching Service/General Medicine Inpatient
  • 1 month Inpatient Cardiology
  • 2 months Critical Care
  • 1 month Night Float*
  • 2 months Ambulatory Care
  • 2.5-3 months subspecialty rotations (including outside elective)
  • 1 month vacation

PGY-3

  • 2 months Teaching Service/General Medicine Inpatient
  • 1 month Inpatient In-House Elective (i.e. Cardiology)
  • 1 month Critical Care
  • 1 month Night Float*
  • 2 months Ambulatory Care
  • 1 month Geriatrics/Hospice
  • 1 month Neurology/Psychiatry
  • 1 month Emergency Medicine
  • 1 month subspecialty rotation
  • 1 month vacation

*Total Night Float is 4 months over 3 years
