About UPMC Harrisburg
UPMC in Central Pennsylvania is part of the UPMC enterprise, a large, nationally recognized, nonprofit academic health system. The Central PA region serves as key provider of health care services for southcentral Pennsylvania and surrounding rural communities, providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services across a diverse patient population. The UPMC Central PA network is comprised of seven acute care hospitals and more than 160 outpatient and ancillary facilities. UPMC Harrisburg is a 422-bed academic, acute care hospital located in downtown Harrisburg and serves as the tertiary-care hub for the UPMC Central PA region. The hospital offers advanced specialty care across multiple disciplines, including:
- Critical care and emergency services
- Cardiovascular care through the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute
- Comprehensive stroke center and neurosciences services
- Women’s and neonatal care, including a 42-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Pediatric acute care and critical care through UPMC Children’s Harrisburg, in partnership with UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
- The region’s premier kidney transplant center
The hospital is a teaching institution supporting multiple physician and health professions training programs. As the flagship training site within UPMC Central PA, UPMC Harrisburg plays a central role in the education of pharmacy residents and students, offering exposure to complex patient populations, interdisciplinary care teams, and high-acuity clinical environments.
