Synergy, Shohei Katayama

Synergy by Shohei Katayama in the level three reception area features two intersecting ovals and slowly moving light. The space where the ovals overlap has dichroic pieces shaped like rods and cones in the retina. LED lights surround the ovals. The LED lights interact with the dichroic pieces and the refracted colors slowly change. The lights catch your attention and are a calming influence while you wait.

A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Katayama investigates our perception of natural patterns and forces. In this artwork, the overlapping shapes symbolize the intersection of diverse ideas.
