Telemedicine services can help people access UPMC's expert care for chronic, complex, and urgent conditions.

UPMC offers virtual care for many conditions and specialties, including but not limited to:

Brain care. UPMC offers video visits for new and follow-up patients. Find out what to expect during your video visit with one of UPMC's neurologists.
Children's health. UPMC is a leader in health care technology. Through telemedicine, we can diagnose, monitor, and treat your child from a distance.
Chronic pain. Our Chronic Pain Telemedicine services at UPMC reduce in-person medical visits for people with pain.
Critical care. UPMC intensivists are available for video visits 24 hours a day via TeleICU, a critical care provider-to-provider telemedicine service.
Dermatology. If you have a rash, acne, or other skin concern, you don't have to wait long to see a doctor. UPMC offers video visits and eDermatology to connect you with quick and secure online care from leading providers.
Digestive health. UPMC's GI doctors use telemedicine to provide remote care for people with digestive problems or diseases.
Endocrine and hormone-related diseases. People with diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, and other hormone-related conditions can book a video visit with UPMC's endocrine disease experts.

Infectious diseases. Our infectious disease team offers a wide range of virtual services, from HIV medicine to post-travel infections

Sleep medicine. Get virtual care for first-time and all follow-up sleep medicine visits. You can even do your sleep study in the safety and comfort of your own home.
Stroke care. UPMC's Telestroke Services provide 24/7 assessments and treatments for acute stroke patients.

Download one of our free UPMC patient portal apps for your video visit. You can sign up for an account through the app if you don't have one yet.
Schedule your video visit the same way you do as an in-person visit.
Use your phone, tablet, or computer to meet with your UPMC care provider. You'll use the camera on your device to see both yourself and your provider on the screen.

You and your doctor can ask and answer questions. Your provider can view areas of your body with the camera, such as an incision. They can also order prescriptions, tests, and treatments.

Is my personal data safe with video visits?

Yes.UPMC uses secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms for telemedicine, so your personal information is always safe.

Can I schedule a video visit with my current provider?

Yes. You can make an in-person or online appointment with your current provider through your patient portal.

What's the wait time for video visits?

Wait times will vary by provider, day, and time.

Can I make a same-day video visit?

Certain on-demand services, like UPMC AnywhereCare, don't require appointments. You can select the first available provider or browse their profiles and choose who you want to see.

How much does a video visit cost?

Telehealth reimbursement varies depending on the payor. Many private and government health care plans have expanded telehealth coverage.

Does UPMC accept my insurance?

Contact your health plan and ask if they cover or reimburse for UPMC video visits.

What if I need to cancel my virtual visit?

You can cancel your video visit through your UPMC patient portal app, or you can call your doctor's office.
