The Shadyside PGY2 Ambulatory Care Program emphasizes continuity and depth of experience, with opportunities to develop deep practice ownership and longer-term caring relationships in a teaching setting with physician learner colleagues. Expanded primary care pharmacist services include substance use recovery clinic, HIV care, Liver Clinic (Hepatitis C care), pharmacogenomics clinic, and interprofessional home visits.
About Our Program
The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Program at UPMC Shadyside is committed to developing competent, compassionate ambulatory care pharmacist practitioners who are adaptable and prepared to provide patient-centered care in interprofessional teams for patients in vulnerable and underserved communities.
Graduates will be well-prepared to support and lead health care change; to sustain, build and evaluate ambulatory care programs; to share and socialize their work; and to educate students, pharmacy/medical residents and practicing health care professionals.
We train clinical pharmacists to offer services ranging from medication access to collaborative disease state management, population health, home-based care, telemedicine, group visits, and beyond, with the aim to increase patient access and support primary care expansion.
