Center for Assistive Technology (CAT) Research

One of the reasons CAT succeeds in meeting the needs of our patients is our direct connection to the academic medical center. CAT is located at the Oakland campus of UPMC, in the same building as the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Pittsburgh.

This affiliation enables clinicians to work directly with other faculty members on collaborative research that leads to closer links between rehabilitation science and user-friendly assistive technology.

To continue efforts to find ground-breaking solutions to physical obstacles, the University’s departments of Rehabilitation Science and Technology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation have consistently secured numerous research grants through outside funding agencies.
