Thank you for your interest in the UPMC Harrisburg Emergency Medicine Residency program! We are excited to welcome our third class of Emergency Medicine interns in July 2021, and for the first time, our program is officially at full complement.
While we are still one of the newer EM residency programs in the country, academic emergency medicine is nothing new to us. We have years of bedside teaching experience with medical students, off-service residents from other UPMC training programs, and Emergency Medicine residents, including EM residents from the Penn State Hershey program.
Our objective is to produce empathetic, clinically excellent, EM physicians with a focus on resident well-being in a community ED setting. We aim to train EM physicians who are capable of practicing not only in Central Pennsylvania, but anywhere in the world. Our graduating residents will possess the tools necessary to achieve lifelong learning in Emergency Medicine, as well as a solid clinical background that will facilitate continued training and advancement in whatever clinical setting (community or academic), role, or subspecialty they choose to pursue.
Highlights of our program include:
We are looking for residents who are passionate about emergency medicine and who are interested in being a part of a small, close knit EM program that is trail blazing the future of emergency medicine at UPMC Harrisburg.
Thanks for your interest in our program. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Erik Kochert, MD, CPE, FACEP
