Required experiences

• Primary Care I: six week block.
• Heart and Vascular Institute: five week block.
• Primary Care II: six week block.
• Precepting: five week block.
• Benedum Geriatrics Center: five week block.
• Ambulatory Pharmacy Leadership and Management: five weeks.
• Primary Care III: six weeks.

• UPMC Center for Care of Infectious Diseases - PACT/HIV Clinic.
• Center for Precision Medicine (Genomics).
• Matilda Theiss Family Health Center.
• Pain and Palliative care.
• Shadyside Family Medicine Health Center.
• Starzl Transplant Institute (Solid Organ).
• UPMC Health Plan Managed Care.

Requirements for program completion

• Pharmacist licensure obtained in the state of Pennsylvania by October 31 of the residency year. Successful completion of all learning experiences.
  • Receiving at least 80% of program objectives are “Achieved for Residency” with R1 Patient Care being 100%.
  • No objectives in any domain that “need improvement.”
• UPMC/Pitt Pharmacy competencies and other required learning modules as specified by the Department of Pharmacy Completion and documentation of the following deliverables:
  • PULSE presentation (Pharmacotherapy Updates: Lecture Series & Continuing Education).
  • Research project protocol, presentation at Resident Research Day and final draft of project manuscript.
  • Completion of Teaching activities (precept one APPE student, four small group facilitations, one large group instruction).
  • Completion of two in-service for clinic-based staff.
