The goal of the UPMC Hamot Center for Digestive Health is to provide patients with the highest quality of care from diagnosis to treatment. Our highly skilled physicians are the region’s leaders in digestive diagnosis, treatments, and surgical innovations.
UPMC Hamot uses the latest endoscope technology to help diagnose disease in the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. New high-definition technology provides physicians with sharper images and better contrast. UPMC Hamot is the only hospital in the region currently using this state-of-the-art equipment.
The UPMC Hamot Endoscopy Department received designation in 2020 by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program. The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program honors endoscopy units that meet rigorous quality and safety criteria, which includes following the ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing, CDC infection control, and endoscopy staff competency. UPMC Hamot is one of only 35 facilities in Pennsylvania with this recognition.
