UPMC Medical Education Residencies & Fellowships

UPMC Graduate Medical Education annually trains 1,750+ residents and fellows in a model of patient-centered care to build a foundation of scientific knowledge, desirable outcomes, and high-value care.  Our 135+ accredited training programs offer opportunities in the clinical departments affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences as well as the VA Healthcare System to serve our diverse communities.  More than 95 program directors have received commendations from residency review committees in their areas of specialty, and UPMC is consistently recognized for its educational excellence and commitment to the advancement of biomedical science.

ACGME Programs

Special Non-ACGME Accredited Programs (SNAP)

Special Non-Accredited Programs (SNAPs) are programs that are accredited by individualized specialty board societies requiring supervision by the Designated Intuitional Official (DIO) but are not accredited by the ACGME. 

ASHP (Pharmacy) Accredited Programs

Pharmacy services offered throughout the UPMC Health System provide outstanding pharmaceutical care to patients while contributing to the growth of the practice of pharmacy locally, nationally and internationally. The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy partners with all the UPMC residency programs to provide additional opportunities in teaching, research, practice sites, and mentorship. UPMC offers over 20 postgraduate pharmacy residency and fellowship training programs in a variety of settings with unique experiences available at each practice site.
