Robert Y. Moore, MD, PhD

Title
  • Professor of neurology, with a secondary in psychiatry and neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh
  • Co-director of the National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh
Description

Dr. Moore's clinical interests are in disorders of biological timing, movement disorders, and behavioral neurology. He is an internationally-recognized researcher in Parkinson's disease.

Recently, he authored a presentation that identified for the first time through PET scans in living Parkinson's patients degeneration of neurons. This breakthrough may someday lead to earlier diagnosis and perhaps allow neuroprotective therapies to slow the progression of this debilitating disease.

He is co-director of the Center on Parkinson's Disease and Related Disorders, of the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, and the University of Pittsburgh-Carnegie Mellon University Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. His laboratory researches the organization and function of the circadian timing system.

Dr. Moore received his medical degree and doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Chicago School of Medicine.
